Changes from v1.8 to v1.81

Improvements:

Changes from v1.7 to v1.8

New Features:
- Added function to format marked text bold, italic, underlined, centered or small with only one click on a button!
- Added feature to automatically generat a topic in Snitz Forum when adding news!
(THIS FEATURE WILL NOT BE DEVELOPED FURTHER IN THE NEAR FUTURE. I ONLY WANTED USERS TO BE ABLE TO DEVELOP IT FURTHER!)
- New "Send to Friend" feature.
- Added option to compact the NewsSystem Access database for performance improvments after adding/editing/deleting many items!

Improvements:
- Bigger and better statistics. Accessable by authors and users/visitors!
- New file called "includeChanges.txt" included in package. There you will find all changes done to inc_top.asp and inc_bottom.asp, so you never have to redo your design to this files, you only have to do the changes described there to your existing files!
- Added Icons for the "...to Author" - Bar and delete "Messanger to Author" - Links, because the icons for this function are left of news-author nick.
- Category Passwords have to be confirmed!
- Added "Current Date" button near release/expire fields, to set them to the current date!
- Added link to all "Not Yet Released News", where you can find submitted news and not released news.
- Now if you have selected a text you can format this to quote or spoiler directly!
- You can define the number of headlines to show per page (when "Show only Headlines" is selected).

Fixes:
- Fixed "overflow bug" when calling banner statistics if no banner is added to BannerAd!

Changes from v1.61 to v1.7

New Features:
- Added click-through and impression counter in BannerAd feature with statistics!
- Added expire and release date feature! Now expired or nit released news are not shown, but still in database.
- Added function to delete all expired news.
- Everyone is able to submit news!! You only have to set the release date and the news will show up.
- Now you are able to edit author when editing news, cause a submitted news always gets the first user in database as author!

Improvements:
- Changed position of category icons. They are placed directly left of category name now.
- Category icons now have only fixed height, width is variable. Fixed height is configured in Main Configuration.
- If comments are enabled and on click at "Read More..." you get to only the selected news, the comments are also shown allready.
- Devided headline-pages into several page á 25 headlines per page.

Fixes:
- Better Email Check included.
- Fixed NewsKill bug, when no news is there to be killed!

Fixes:
- Preview window is now resizable.
- safeHTML()-function caused error on IIS prior 5.0 and non-IIS server when adding/editing news. Now this function is only called on IIS 5.0!
- Problems with "...more headlines" link bottom of "Latest News" should be fixed.
- ScriptTimeout when trying to change category-positions if there are >60 categories should be prevented.
- Minor changes in update-scripts.

Changes from v1.53 to v1.6

New Features:
- Upload enabled without Component!
- New structure (several subpages) of "Main Configuration" in admininstration-area for better and quicker configuration!
- More security by filtering some risky HTML-Tags (IFRAME,FRAMESET and more) and to disallow Scripts in NewsEditor!
- Some more notices in readme.txt.
- Now the "Latest News" feature always show the latest news of the current category. If no category is selected, it shows the latest of all!
- Added "Print"-Link (optional), which opens a window with a printer-friendly page of the news.
- Now you are able to protect categories with passwords, so only authors who know the password can add/edit news to this category!
- Added a preview window for added/edited news. You will see the headline and text as it will appear finally!
- Added link on different location where user can choose to view only headlines (of category or all)!

Changes from v1.4 to v1.5

- You can now add small images (width 80, 100 or 120 pixels) to the news (aligned left or right, with/without border) (optional feature)!
- You can configure a different language for NewsSystem, than the servers one by changing the Locale ID in config.asp
- Added a link to the imageupload within the news add/edit page, so you can faster add images to your news.
- Different icons for each category in 3 optional widths (10x10, 16x16, 25x25)!

Changes from v1.3 to v1.4

New Features:
- Smilies are now available in comments.
- Due to the new limitation of page numbers shown on top of page, I decided to add a pull-down-box where you can select every single page!
- You will see only 10 headlines at once in the administration-area per page.
- Added Hitcounter at "Read more..." - Link.
- You can add more than one style into the newssystem and choose wich one to use.

Fixes:
- The NewsSearch results will now link to configured type of newsdisplay (one news or all news of category)
- If someone adds a comment and you receive a notification by mail, now the link where you find the comment is correct!
- Notifications of added comments are now sent to the author of the news, not the admin.
- A performance fix in comments.asp was made.
- Design fixed when adding news.
- Back buttons now all work correctly and will go back to the site where you came from. Side effect: You sometimes have to manually reload the main news-administration-page!
- Added "Go Back" - links to some pages.
- Page Numbers on top of script are limited from 1 to 10 to avoid design conflicts.
- Formfields will allways have black fontcolor. This fixes the unreadable formfields problem when configured white default fontcolor.
- Changed order of news_navigation bar.

Changes from v1.2 to v1.3

New Features:
- Now you can UPDATE YOUR EXISTING DATABASE from a minor version to the actual one without loosing data!!
- Administrator can delete news by date (older than 30, 60, 120 or 360 days)
- The news (where more than one appear) are now divided into several pages (admin can configure number of news per page)
- Divided pages can be accessed by using next/previous links or by clicking page number link
- You can choose the formats of date and time to display
- Added headlines for all non-administration-pages
- Added function to update/refresh statistics manually (if you think they are wrong)
- Included a readme-file in zip-file. There you will find installation and configuration instructions.

Fixes:
- One more link was corrected (Quick Add News - Back Button)
- Better updating of statistics leads to faster access and no more or at least less statistical errors
- Access Database is updateable to newer version because I hardcoded the queries
